Golden Hair

Recorded by: Two Ton Boa
Written by: Syd Barrett
These lyrics originate in James Joyce's poem "V", but Syd Barrett took a few artistic liberties, such as changing the second line from "I hear you singing A merry air" to "I heard you singing In the midnight air", and made other small changes throughout.

Lyrics

The original James Joyce poem "V", from "Chamber Music":

Lean out of the window,
    Golden-hair,
I hear you singing
    A merry air.
My book was closed;
    I read no more,
Watching the fire dance
    On the floor.
I have left my book,
    I have left my room
For I heard you singing
    Through the gloom,
Singing and singing
    A merry air,
Lean out of the window,
    Golden-hair.
